George shares Book Reviews

Well-known genealogist George Morgan shared some book reviews in a recent post. I was surprised to see novelist Philippa Gregory on his list. I enjoyed his comments on the accuracy of her research:

Ms. Gregory is a masterful researcher and has done her genealogical,
historical, and social homework to the nth degree. She has translated her
intimate knowledge and understanding into an exciting read. She employs a unique
ability to take the driest of historical accounts, diaries, and correspondence
and recreate the scenes and produce dialog that tells the stories of these women
and other historical personages, bringing them all to life!

Stitching Bloggers Question of the Week

Do you dream of running your own LNS/ONS? If so, tell us about your dream. If not, tell us about your cross stitch dream… maybe you dream of designing, dyeing your own floss or fabric, etc.

Answer: Yes. However, I don't want to compete with all the great ones that are already in this area. I love my LNS, One More Stitch. However, I also love the ones in Pigeon Forge and Wears Valley. I want to visit the one in Loudon sometime. I'd need to relocate someplace where I could "corner the market" if I were to ever own my own. I should also say that I also think about other small business adventures.

To be honest, I'd be kind of like Betsy in the Monica Ferris books and need my own Goddy to teach the classes. I'm okay with basics, but I'd need someone who could do the more advanced stuff.

Good Morning America

LINK - I'm so excited! My favorite grocery store, Jungle Jim's, which is in Fairfield, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati, is going to be featured on Saturday's Good Morning America. It is supposed to air between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Eastern. I just hope I can make myself get out of bed to see it.

Hunt the Wumpus

One of my favorite early computer games was "Hunt the Wumpus." I wondered if I could find it online today (and if it would even work with newer computers) and discovered that you can play it online even today! Enjoy my trip down memory lane and get the Wumpus before it gets you.

A New Year

It's a new year. I got really behind last fall in blogging when I was moving and when my computer went down not once but twice. Anyway, I hope I can be disciplined enough to blog more often this year.
