A Curiosity

I found this item on an AP feed at another paper and had to find out more about it. Apparently there's a controversy brewing in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho over the proposed location of a new funeral home. They wish to locate across from the senior citizens center. So, what's your opinion, is it handy or too close for comfort?

  • Hi, Lori, Coeur d'Alene (pronounced CORE duh LANE), Idaho is just 30 minutes east of us on I-90, here in Spokane. I hadn't heard about this controversy, but rarely watch the news.

  • Lori, This is "too close or comfort" in my opinion, if the senior citizens center is of a nursing home variety. If the center is just for social/educational activities, then the location of a funeral home is just "handy."

I'm always amazed [in Mississippi] at the number of schools located alongside cemeteries. So if little kids have to look out their classroom windows to see a burial ground, what's wrong with some "seniors" seeing a funeral home on their way to play bingo?

  • Yep, I'll agree with Terry. Too close if the seniors live there! Not so bad if they're just there for the day.
