Boston Diary - June 6, Part 1

Breakfast was in the hotel this morning. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. Today took me to Concord. The first stop was Walden Pond. I re-read Walden this spring before coming to New England.

As you can see in the next photo, parts of the trail are right next to the water!

Cap and beach towels. Did Mr. Thoreau go for a swim? I saw no one in the water! It was only about 54 degrees outside.

Inside the hut (a replica). Didn't Mr. Thoreau's mom teach him how to make up a bed?




If it was all about simplicity, why did Mr. Thoreau invite all these schoolchildren to come and listen to him speak outside his cabin?
